How this tool works
1. Normalized lookup
Your address is normalized — EVM addresses are lowercased, Tron addresses are validated against the base58check format — and matched against our local copy of the OFAC SDN list. No third-party API calls in the request path.
2. Regular ingestion
We fetch the official OFAC SDN Advanced XML directly from sanctionslistservice.ofac.treas.gov every 2 hours. Each update is validated for completeness and row-count thresholds before being promoted to live.
3. OFAC-only scope
This free checker covers OFAC SDN only. The paid API adds EU Consolidated, UN Security Council, UK FCDO, and community-maintained threat intelligence lists with structured risk scores.
When you need more than this
The free checker is designed for manual lookups — useful for quick spot-checks but not for screening at scale. If you run a crypto exchange, custodian, lending platform, or any service that processes user wallets programmatically, you need automated screening: auditable, multi-jurisdiction, and fast. The Screening API gives you a REST endpoint with batch support (up to 100 addresses), full EU, UN, and UK coverage, structured risk scores, and usage logs suitable for compliance audits.

Full pricing details →Frequently asked questions
- What is the OFAC SDN list?
- The OFAC SDN (Specially Designated Nationals) list is maintained by the U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control. It contains individuals, companies, and cryptocurrency addresses subject to U.S. economic sanctions. Transacting with listed addresses may be prohibited under U.S. law.
- How often is the data updated?
- Our OFAC SDN data is refreshed every 2 hours directly from the official OFAC sanctions list service. Each update passes automated validation before being promoted to live.
- Which chains does the free checker support?
- The free checker accepts Ethereum, Bitcoin, Tron, Polygon, Arbitrum, Base, Optimism, BNB Chain, and Solana addresses. OFAC has published sanctioned addresses primarily on Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Tron.
- Does a clean result mean the address is safe to transact with?
- No. A clean result means the address was not found in the OFAC SDN list at the time of the check. You remain responsible for screening against all applicable sanctions lists (EU, UN, UK) and for your broader compliance obligations. The paid API tier includes EU, UN, and UK consolidated lists.
- Is this suitable for production compliance use?
- This tool is informational only and is not a substitute for a formal compliance program. For production use, we recommend the paid API tier which includes full multi-jurisdiction screening, audit logs, and an SLA.
